Andrew is part of Nesta’s mission to create A Sustainable Future, which focuses on decarbonisation and economic recovery.

His team runs a range of innovation projects aiming to reduce carbon emissions from homes. He focuses on areas including the cost and affordability of heat pumps and growing the workforce of low carbon heating engineers. Andrew also leads the mission’s work on productivity and net zero, helping the economy grow and get greener at the same time.

Before joining Nesta in 2021, Andrew was a senior leader at the Environment Agency, with spells as Chief Economist and leading the Agency’s work on funding and Green Finance. He was previously in Government (Cabinet Office, MHCLG) working on cities and local growth, playing a key role in setting up the new Metro Mayors in England. He has also worked at The Work Foundation and as an economic consultant.
